What’s Next for Ruby Quill Books

There’s something special about finishing a book.

Not just typing “The End”—but holding it in your hands, flipping through the pages, and realizing that something that once lived only in your imagination is now real.

With the completion of Miles’ First Birthday, I’ve officially wrapped up the Miles’ Firsts series… and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what comes next.

🐶 A Chapter Closes
Miles’ journey started with simple moments—first days, first nights, first discoveries. Those quiet, meaningful milestones turned into stories that so many of you connected with, and that means more than I can put into words.

This series was always meant to capture something gentle and real:
the beauty in small beginnings.

And while it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, it feels like the right time.

✍️ Growing as a Creator

Creating children’s books isn’t just about storytelling—it’s about learning how to tell stories better each time.

Along the way, I’ve:

Experimented with illustration styles
Learned the ins and outs of self-publishing
Refined how I bring emotion into simple, readable text
(And yes… wrestled with more formatting and margins than I ever expected)

Each book has made the next one stronger.

🎃 What’s Coming Next?

If you’ve been following along, you might already know—I’m exploring something new.

The next project steps into a slightly different world:

A Halloween-themed children’s book
New characters, new tone, and richer illustrated environments
A story that leans a little more into imagination and adventure

Don’t worry—it will still carry that same heart and warmth. Just with a little more mischief in the air.

🎨 Behind the Scenes (The Real Talk)

This next phase is also about making a big decision:

Do I continue using AI-generated illustrations…
or collaborate with a professional illustrator?

Both paths have their pros and challenges, and I’m taking the time to make sure the next book reaches a new level of quality—something that truly stands out on the shelf.
