December 2025 | Holiday Reflections from DeLand, Florida
This year has felt like watching a story unfold — one written not just in ink, but in community, creativity, and a whole lot of heart.
When I first dreamed up Ruby Quill Books, I imagined a tiny spark: a place where stories could feel handcrafted, full of warmth, humor, and everyday wonder. Now, as I look back on 2025, I see that spark has grown into something real — something shared.
✨ Our First Story Took Flight
This fall, Miles’ First Howl-o-ween officially became Ruby Quill Books’ first published title.
What started as a Halloween tradition here in DeLand — handing out full-size candy bars and books — became the seed for a story about a curious little puppy discovering the joy (and mystery) of his first Halloween night.
Seeing that book come to life — from sketch to story to a real copy in my hands — taught me something big: that creativity has a heartbeat. It grows stronger when shared with others.
📚 A Year of Gratitude
This year, I’m most thankful for:
-
The readers who stopped to flip through Miles’ First Howl-o-ween and smiled.
-
The friends and family who encouraged every rewrite, every late-night edit, and every “what if we tried this?” moment.
-
The small-town magic of DeLand, Florida, where porch lights and palm trees make every story feel a little more alive.
Ruby Quill Books was born out of community — and every kind word, every message, and every moment of connection has been a reminder that stories are bridges. They bring us closer together.
🌿 Lessons from a Ruby Quill
If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that storytelling doesn’t have to be loud to make an impact.
Sometimes it’s a puppy and a porch light.
Sometimes it’s a quiet page that makes someone feel seen.
Each story we write and share leaves a little glow behind — a reminder that even in the busiest seasons, imagination can bring joy, comfort, and connection.
💌 Looking Ahead
As Ruby Quill Books turns the page into 2026, new stories are already waiting in the wings — more adventures for Miles, new worlds for young readers, and maybe even a few surprises.
To everyone who’s been part of this first chapter: thank you.
From my small desk here in Florida, I’m sending a warm wish your way — for a cozy holiday season filled with books, light, and the kind of stories that make you believe in magic all over again.
Because if 2025 has taught me anything, it’s this:
A story doesn’t end when the last page turns. That’s just where the next begins.
